Alterations, Extensions and Refurbishment
Careful identification of the occupiers’ changing needs will help to maximise the success of any alterations, extensions or improvements.
Time spent in the planning stage and the careful selection of the successful tenderer are important in controlling costs and realising the full potential of a project.
Paul Grundy Surveying are able to prepare initial feasibility studies, plans and specifications, advise on the selection of suitable contractors, obtain competitive tenders and manage the contract through to completion and agreement of the final account.
Repairs and Maintenance
Professional advice on the need for repairs and maintenance to a property can be instrumental in avoiding escalation in costs by implementing timely repairs of a preventative nature. Similarly the careful specification of the works required can avoid costly and unnecessary work and will secure the most competitive quotations from contractors.
The assistance that Paul Grundy Surveying are able to provide includes advice upon a specific problem, the survey of a building to identify any defects that exist and the preparation of a detailed planned maintenance programme. This can be followed by the preparation of a specification for the necessary work, the obtaining of competitive tenders and administration of the contract to completion.

Project Management
Building projects can be complex and difficult to administer. Completion of the project within the required timescale and budget is essential to its success. Professional project management can ensure these objectives are achieved.
Paul Grundy Surveying have for many years provided project management services in respect of a variety of building schemes. We are able to advise on the appointment of the design team and contractors. We will monitor the design process and project on site to ensure it achieves the clients requirements with completion within agreed cost and time objectives.
Historic Buildings
Apart from traditionally built properties familiar to most people, an infinite variety of forms of construction exist. In the case of period houses, timber framed construction presents particular problems and must be dealt with sympathetically. Old houses which apparently display alarming problems may be quite sound for their age and construction and vice versa - it is a matter of judgement and experience. The wrong advice where repair or alteration to an historic building are being undertaken could cause irreparable damage to the building.
Paul Grundy Surveying have many years experience with period property from the smallest cottage to rambling Grade I listed mansions and in the design and supervision of their repair and alteration. We regularly work with both Local Authority Conservation Officers and English Heritage, obtaining their approval to Clients proposals where this is required. We can give well balanced advice firmly based on sound experience.
New Build
Paul Grundy Surveying provides the full range of services required in connection with the design and construction of new buildings. Initial design proposals and sketch plans are prepared to the Clients requirements and discussions are held with the Local Planning Authority to secure their approval. Full plans, working drawings and tender documents are prepared, advice on suitable contractors given and competitive tenders obtained. The contract is project managed to final completion and agreement of final account.
